What level of education do you seek? Without ever leaving Dearborn, you can have your desire, from day care to a master’s degree.

DEARBORN PUBLIC SCHOOLS

Click here to read about the Dearborn Public Schools.

The Dearborn Public Schools are one of only three K-14 school systems. Comprehensive academic and vocational programs are offered in 25 neighborhood schools. Over 13,000 students participate in a curriculum that stresses basic skill development in math and language arts. Experience in art, instrumental and vocal music, physical education, health, science, social studies, and foreign languages are provided.

Dearborn's high schools are accredited by both the University of Michigan and the North Central Association. Seven out of 10 Dearborn graduates go to college.

Community education programs provide learning opportunities ranging from high school completion and vocational training and retraining to enrichment and recreation. A special senior citizen program offers daytime classes in neighborhood schools. English as a Second Language (ESL) programs offer foreign-born residents the opportunity to study English and citizenship.

The Dearborn Board of Education also governs Henry Ford Community College, which serves nearly 16,000 full- and part-time students on three campuses, with programs from art to robotics. Fifty-eight associate degree and certification programs qualify students for entry-level jobs or allow them to complete the first two years of a liberal arts or pre-professional program.

Academic excellence is crucial in today's society and the City of Dearborn is doing its part in preparing residents and businesses for that standard. Offering educational opportunities ranging from preschool to graduate school is what puts Dearborn at the top of the list for educational institutions.

One of only three K-14 school systems in Michigan, the Dearborn Public Schools serve residents from their earliest years in day-care and preschool programs, throughout grade school and high school, and up to two-year college programs at Henry Ford Community College.

The Dearborn Public Schools also offer day care for preschoolers, a developmental preschool program for three- and four year-olds, and before- and after-school child care for school-age youngsters.

HENRY FORD COMMUNITY COLLEGE
Governed by the Dearborn Board of Education, Henry Ford Community College (HFCC) serves nearly 16,000 full- and part-time students on three campuses, with programs from art to robotics. Fifty-eight associate degree and certification programs qualify students for entry-level jobs or allow them to complete the first two years of a liberal arts or pre-professional program.

HFCC's on-site associate degree classes and skill upgrade training courses now are available to businesses. Businesses can take advantage of classes that can be taught to employees on the job site. Once the kind of training is determined, HFCC also can assist businesses in applying for state funding that can reduce the cost of this training.

HFCC's unique guarantee program promises to refund tuition to any graduate for any course passed with at least a "C" if course credit does not transfer to a college or university within two years of graduation. HFCC also will provide up to 16 semester credit hours of skill training to any graduate of an occupational studies program whose employer is not satisfied with his or her entry-level technical skills.
