O'Reilly touts development at State of the City address For the first time in 20 years, Mayor Michael Guido didn't deliver the State of the City address. Feb. 15 Ford Comerica Global Thursdays continue as the The Arab American National Museum multicultural performance series presents Efe and Bambuti. This drum and dance troupe keeps the tradition of African dance and music alive with its "other world" music and dance. Global Thursdays are held at the auditorium weekly at 7:30 p.m. Call 582-AANM for details.

The Dearborn Symphony Orchestra will be performing "My Funny Valentine" Friday, Feb. 16 at 8 p.m. at the Ford Community and Performing Arts Center. The concert will feature the acclaimed pianist and conductor, Rich Ridenour and vocalist Diane Penning.

Through Feb. 23 The Alfred Berkowitz Gallery presents the Art of the Takaan. Master woodcarvers from Paete, a Philippine town long recognized for its making of paper-maché, create “takaan” or positive forms over which paper objects are produced. These manufactured objects, known as “taka,” are used as toys or as objects used in local festivals and religious celebrations.

The Eames Lounge Chair exhibit at The Henry Ford is open through April. Fifty years ago, pioneering artists Charles and Ray Eames unveiled their groundbreaking lounge chair, setting a new standard for design innovation and elegance. This limited-engagement exhibit reveals the design, production and cultural impact of the lounge chair through unpublished drawings and other rare Eames artifacts.

Telegraph Detour Motorists who use Telegraph Road in Dearborn are advised of a major change in traffic flow through June. Telegraph Road from Mich. Ave. north to Ford will reconstruct the bridge that carries Telegraph over the Rouge River just north of Mich. Ave. For the duration of the project, Telegraph Road from Mich. Ave. north to Cherry Hill will be reduced to just one lane of traffic each way.
